He’s an independent creature
who really knows his mind.
He is cautious around strangers
until they prove that they are kind.
He moves with stealth and arrogance,
ever watchful all the while.
Never missing to see any chance
through those eyes, that beguile.
He uses us at times
but we love him and that’s that.
I’m speaking of our friend,
the great domestic cat.
