Blue, the colour of loyalty.
Blue, the colour of trust.
Blue, the sea that divides us.
Blue the sky, that is the pie crust.
Blue, the sense of chivalry.
Blue, the most loyal of loyal.
Blue, the hope for tomorrow,
when sailing back to home soil.
Blue, the colour of calmness.
Blue, the colour of respect.
With the help of each other to guide them,
their one wish, to return, all present and correct.
Blue seas, that are beneath them.
Blue, the colour of the skies.
Blue murder going on between them,
that too often belies their eyes.
Blue, the uniform he was wearing,
and wearing it, he did, with pride.
Blue, the book of remembrance,
with his name written inside.
Blue, was her heart without him.
Blue, she would always be.
Nothing could ever replace him –
her dearest son, lost at sea.
Blue, that is azure or cobalt.
Blue, that is navy or royal.
Lost, the hope for tomorrow.
Never arriving back on home soil.
Blue, the seas that surround us.
Blue, the skies, to this day.
God bless those sadly departed,
now and forever, let’s pray.
In memory of our uncle,
and all those brave men,
lost at sea
on HMS Cleopatra,
in 1943.
