They just did it, and did it,
and did it some more,
til it ran it’s course –
both knowing the score.
When the first flush of romance is over
and a platonic friendship ensues,
it’s often more powerful and stronger,
as to each other, for life, they fuse.
In our midst there are many in trouble,
disguising their sorrow in various ways.
Against the backdrop of day to day living
lies a rawness that lost love betrays.
The hostility of gnashing fangs,
as on a thread, their romance hangs.

One recalls
word for word
moments of tenderness
softly purred.
She did for Sidney what
she should na aughta,
and accepted readily
the gifts he bought her,
and all was well til the
wine turned to water.
What a valuable lesson
old Sidney taught her.

on a cold and wintry night.
True, a hot water bottle holds less
complications, but has lost it’s heat by
morning light.
Her misconstrued sense of loyalty
and his persuasive powers became
a lethal mix.
The root of the problem needed analysis
and a miracle, paradoxical fix.

The Bakerloo Line,
the last place that
Gloria saw Ged.
Agreeing the match
was impossible,
they put their
experience to bed.
The completeness of the moment
with all it’s complexities
is worth a lifetime of sobriety.
