They stand as one, yet in a pair,

joined at the hip through years of care.

 

They talk as one, and tales compare,

of bygone days and wisdom share.

 

They sleep as one, yet in two beds,

now bodily functions wreck their heads.

 

They see as one, now eyes are dim,

both he for her and her for him.

 

They die as one, life’s not worthwhile,

without the other at whom to smile.
