Push me to the limit
Make me blow my top
Wind me up incessantly
Until I cannot stop
Watch my temper rising
I’m shaking now with rage
Just like an untamed Lioness
Trapped within a cage
I just can’t be submissive
My opinion, I won’t change
I cannot help the way I feel
Though you might think it strange!
To chip away at me won’t work
Nor will it weaken my defence
But I do find it so wearisome
So really, what’s the sense?
If you don’t like the way I am
Then I suggest you go
Because this verbal battering
Just has to stop, you know.
I awoke today and thought of you,
I often do, and then other times
You leave my mind and I am free
To breathe, though vacant
And less happy, than when
you fill my world
Thank the Lord for solitude,
He thought, as he
Closed his office door
And went over to download
‘that’ website
Like he’d done a
Thousand times before.
You must tell him to stop
Coming here after work.
He heads straight upstairs
To do big jobs on our toilet
And keeps blocking it up.
It’s not the ‘done thing’ you know!
Ee, whatever do you see in him?
You could do much better.
Your Dad’s not keen either.
Last week when he came
He left muddy footprints
All over our new hall carpet and
I only just managed to clean it up
Before Auntie Edith arrived –
And you know how fussy she is!
To love and know no future is in sight
To want and know to have cannot be right
To need and suffer pain not worth the fight
To lose and never know love’s dizzy height

A life lived together
hand in hand
as the years go by
A friendship so true
side by side
until the rivers run dry
I wasn’t asleep, honestly, I wasn’t
I was merely snoozing, just having forty winks
Taking a nap
Nodding off momentarily
After a few drinks
I wasn’t snoring, honestly, I wasn’t
I was deeply sighing whilst taking long blinks
Having a breather
Drifting off therapeutically
Chasing the sphinx
To touch a melting snowflake
And experience the momentary magic
Is nothing short of a miracle
To catch your passing smile
And experience a swell of emotion
Is nothing short of exhilarating
To see your goodbye wave
And experience your departing
Is nothing short of devastating
Sprinkle the earth
on top of the coffin
He won’t be coming back
He’s happy now and where
He wanted to be.
The will to live had left him
Now they’re back together,
Don’t you see?
In life they were as just one
In harmony, two hearts did gel
Without her, the flame went out
And he became an empty shell.

The swine
The cad
The ‘Jack the lad’
I’ll have his guts for garters
I’d like to lock him in the stocks
And at him – whiz tomarta’s
His roving eye
His velvet tongue
His bald head doesn’t stop him
He thinks he’s ‘it’
But he’s in for shit
And that’s only for ‘starters
