Eventually that feeling will leave you,
when the shine starts to lose it’s gloss,
after you strip away the chocolate coating,
and fight your way through the candy floss.

Put on your combinations, love,
the weather is chilly outside.
Button up your liberty bodice dear,
tis not the season to worry about pride.

Percoughalees said to Mendotta
‘Lets have a look at whata you gotta’.
‘No chance’ said Mendotta to Percoughalees,
‘Go rid yourself of that love bug disease’.
But persistent Percoughalees wasn’t put off,
and this time asked Mendotta for a squeeze.
Indignant Mendotta said ‘Not a hope, now go
take a cold shower, Percougalees – please’.

The expectation
The razzamatazz
The once a year parties
filled with pizzazz.
The over indulgence
The extra drink they insist,
and with time forgotten,
the last train home missed.
The slip of the tongue
The cocky remark
‘Nothing meant personally mate,
just having a lark’.
The battle from nowhere
The verbal attack
Pals trying to restrain you,
but copping the whack.
Then homeward bound
by taxi that costs,
just as dawn is breaking,
with the morning frost.
And finally –
A punch on the nose
and a dig in the ribs
from her indoors
for telling her fibs.

He had the delicate touch of a lump hammer.
His comments were always pile driven.
He attempted humour where angels fled.
His naivety, not always forgiven.

He quietly put the key in the lock,
the hour was late and he needed affection.
But the key wouldn’t budge, for he was at
the wrong house, fast realising his
memory stick had lost it’s direction.
When out of the blue,
a little love bug comes calling
Flick the head of the little love bug,
and send him sprawling.

Try to find some beauty
in an ugly bluebottle fly.
It may be an ancient ancestor,
returning to earth for a second try.
Let’s be flexible,
and accepting of fools.
Let’s be pliable, and
break a few rules.

He was a legend in his own
bath water.
He certainly made a splash.
He had a gold plated rubber duck,
to add a touch of panache.
