Oh gorgeous sediment

that was part of tradition.

So natural and moist

and rich in composition.

Now crumbling away

after centuries on show.

Falling like sand

into the sea down below.

And wood once so dense

wild winds now devour,

as storms force flying debris

onto rocks with such power.

And trees uprooted

as if dancing a fling.

No point in snatching

weak branches of string.

Destruction, life changing,

on a gigantic scale.

Escape meaning nothing –

as the last ship sets sail.

and traditionalists sit nodding

almost as if to mock,

and put on the kettle

unconcerned by the shock,

because like the sooth-sayers,

their predictions came true –

the winds of yesteryear returned

to take on life anew.

Sensing an

opportunity

for freedom,

she went

for it.

She strolled out

of the grounds of

the Care Home,

and along the lane

into an open

doorway that led

into someone’s

Lounge.

She sat down

in an armchair

by the fireplace

and glanced

around the room

in admiration.

The lady of the

house came from

the kitchen into

her lounge

and was taken

with fright

at the sight of

the stranger, who

calmly looked up

at her and asked

‘Can I help you, Dear?

A ‘free one’ now on offer

so take up the opportunity today,

or buy two and get a third one free –

you can’t lose out either way.

Or buy one and get a voucher

towards your next purchase in-store.

Step inside and be sorely tempted

or put your money in the Bank next door.

It won’t gain you any interest,

but if you do that every time,

you are never swayed into spending

on that ‘must have’, not worth a dime.

And therefore creating your own interest,

by avoiding the latest fad,

your Bank balance will become healthier,

taking the pressure off Mum & Dad.

And saving will become infectious

as you see how much you have gained.

With just a touch of self disciple –

no need for an overdraft unexplained.

A day that started out the same

as any other that one could name,

progressed along a downward track,

without a brake – no turning back.

A day that was like any other

found raw emotions – God love us Mother.

As strength from somewhere, hard to find,

when ears were deaf, and eyes were blind.

A day that was unprecedented,

saw hell let loose and temper vented.

To have to go against the grain,

of what is right, sends one insane.

A day that will forever stay,

found madness at the close of play.

But given time, and mercy’s call,

Somehow love will conquer after all.

A voice we could always rely on,

his knowledge of the industry so vast,

and today it sorely pains us

to speak of him in the past.

For decades, our start to the weekend –

A routine so many fans will know.

First job on a Saturday morning

was tuning in to his ‘Sounds of the 60’s Show’.

One of the nicest DJ’s of all time –

his manner unassuming and full of appeal.

Today the airwaves of heaven welcome home

A ‘Top Bloke’, who was the ‘real deal’.

RIP.   1928 – 2017

Chuck Berry had us ‘Rockin and Reelin’

with ‘School Days’ and ‘Sweet Sixteen’,

when he entered the charts in the late 50’s

with a vibe few had seldom seen.

Seven more hits followed in the 60’s

like ‘Go Go Go’ & Run Rudolf Run’,

and with ‘Let it Rock’ & ‘Memphis Tennessee’

this double ‘A’ side, had every heart won.

‘Nadine (Is It You)’ came along next

before ‘No Particular Place To Go’

and ‘You Can Never Tell’ and ‘Promised Land,

proving Chuck Berry could put on a Show.

Be sure the gates of heaven

will welcome home this Rock & Roll King

with open arms on his arrival

singing his only No1 – ‘My Ding A Ling’.

Your music changed lives

RIP  Chuck Berry

Sister Sledge entered the charts in 75,

making the Top 20 with ‘Mama Never Told Me’,

and four years later in 79.

3 more hits followed consecutively.

Also in 75, ‘Then Came You’ –

Joni performed with The Spinners.

But will be remembered for her sister- act,

and their songs that were all winners.

‘He’s The Greatest Dancer’ & ‘We Are Family’

both making the UK Top Ten.

With ‘Lost In Music’ reaching No.17 –

this disco hit, played again and again.

‘Frankie’ their only No.1 in 85 –

these ‘All American Girls’ we loved true.

Their songs also remixed hits in the 80’s,

and remixed a 2nd time, in the 90’s too.

This bubbly Singer/Songwriter & Producer

deserves every accolade due.

And today Dear Joni, you can be sure –

The Pop World will be ‘Thinking Of You’
