The deserted disheartened
The unwanted unwashed
In alleyways they sleep
Their future all quashed
June 26, 2012
The escape, the adventure, the
‘getting away with it’, the crack,
the banter, the raves,
the freedom, the hell, the
release, the pulse, the energy
The price!

The impetuousness of youth.
The sharpness of the mind.
If only they could bottle it,
a million dollar business they would find.

Climb to dizzy heights
Soar in the great unknown
Keeping one foot firmly on the ground
In case your cover is blown
The ‘more than mi job’s worth’s’
The men to get past
Can be bought for a tenner
If it’s slipped to them fast
Outsourced responsibility
Sub-let commitment
Second hand forgiveness
Mere peripheral gestures
All fragrance-free emotions
and a cop out
A fantasy climax is
no just reward for
a phantom pregnancy
with no umbilical cord
The bleeding heart of a nation
The lifeless rotting dead
Thousands of prayers never answered
for survivors, still living in dread

Life’s journey is easy
until you hit the hairpin bend.
When the clouds fall to the sea,
and we no longer cease to be
And the mountains turn to sand,
as we destroy this precious land
All too late, with sorrow felt,
we’ll know we blew, the hand God dealt.
