In 79, still on Mercury, In The Navy,
reached No. 2 in the chart.
And also in 79, Go West, was a No.15.
And in 80, Can’t Stop The Music, at No.11, won every heart.
In 85, Sex Over The Phone, peaked at No.59,
this time on Record Shack.
And in 93, Y.M.C.A.(Remix) made No.12, on Bell.
And in 94, In The Navy (Remix), rose to No.36, also on Bell.
In 99, Y.M.C.A. (2nd Remix),
on Wrasse, reached No.35.
and to this day remains a favourite,
and fitting end to this hot list jive.
Thank You for the ‘feel good’ music.
Victor Willis – Lead singer – The Village People
R I P 1951 – 2026
From Dad dancers to kings and presidents,
From children to grannies galore.
Your music brought joy to so many.
You knew how to fill a dance floor.
From the moment you hit the stage running,
with your own very personal style.
In the world full of sadness we live in.
You gave us all a reason to smile.
