Suffice it to say,
there’s been enough said.
So we’ll lick our wounds,
and lightly tread.
We’ll agree to differ,
and hold our tongues.
No point in chanting
those archaic songs.
Life must go on,
the cat must be fed.
Let’s call it a day,
and retreat to bed
I am beginning another chapter.
I am turning over a second hand leaf.
I’m engrossed in books I found at the Tip,
and keeping out of frivolous mischief!
I couldn’t get into Evelyn Waugh,
and his book about ‘The early years’.
I much preferred poems by Rupert Brooke,
and some of his contemporary peers
I placed some of the books on a shelf,
and then piled others on various tables.
Whilst the rest are sitting on the stairwell,
one of which, is Aesops Fables!
I want to thank whoever dumped them,
for a varied and interesting read.
I bought five metres of black chiffon today,
as six would have been indulgent greed!
Lust is an impetuous friend.
He presses the button marked GO,
And say’s ‘You’re onto a winner, my son –
get in quick, before she says NO.

The things I have to do,
before I can do the things
I have to do.

He’s nothing but a villain, Ref.
His attitude’s all wrong.
In the air he’s just plain physical,
and his ‘throw in’s‘ take too long
He’s on the ‘Physio’s bed again.
This time he’s pulled a tendon.
He’s been injury prone throughout his career
and not a player to depend on
Three away points
will seal the day,
and keep us on track
for promotion in May.
I knew him when he had nothing,
and he was just a snotty nosed kid,
who played in the street with the rest of us,
and lost his marbles down the grid.
The deserted disheartened
The unwanted unwashed
In alleyways they sleep
Their future all quashed

The escape, the adventure, the
‘getting away with it’, the crack,
the banter, the raves,
the freedom, the hell, the
release, the pulse, the energy
The price!
