An open goalmouth
What is the lad doing?
His shot went wide
And had the crowd booing
She suddenly saw him across the room.
The man with whom she’d once had a steamy affair.
She remembered how he’d tied her to the bed,
As she abandoned every care.
Now wasn’t the moment to approach him,
They were both in another space and time
But their eyes locked in total memory,
Recalling what was then quite sublime.
Her whole body seemed to tingle,
And her head, it felt quite light.
A bright flush of redness came to her cheeks,
As she thought of that wonderful night.
A few minutes later he walked to the door.
It was impossible for either to speak.
He turned back to look at her one last time,
And suddenly her knees went quite weak.
Thank goodness that moment was over.
Thank goodness that the sun once shone.
It is all part of life’s rich tapestry.
But she couldn’t help wonder where he’d gone!
He is the butterfly that
Flutters by the tree
He is the songbird
Who chirps with glee
He is in the eyes of
the child at your knee
He’s there beside you
And forever will be
Oh what fun it is
Chasing the chaste!
But once in her web
-I retreat – post haste
It doesn’t really matter
if the job is not quite done!
We can finish it tomorrow
At our leisure in the sun
The geese are going to warmer places
-Sensing it’s time to go
They don’t require tickets and cases
-They travel lightly – you know
Why be anxious and anticipate
Why not just relax and wait
The outcome won’t be what you think
So let your mind go on the blink
Do not judge or indeed foresee
Just think ‘What will be – will be’
You cannot change a forgone conclusion
So just imagine it’s an illusion
Most times anxiety is unfounded
So let your feet stay firmly grounded
No way can the past you change
Or the future re-arrange
So just accept what’s going on
This time tomorrow, it will be gone
Time doesn’t wait, it never did
So on anxiety…put the lid
Show me a tissue
Soaked in tears
From a grief stricken Mum
Who realised her fears.
She felt on the day
Her son left with his pack
He was gone forever
and wouldn’t be back.
Intuition had told her
Not to let her son go
But he was living his dream
His face had a glow
Inside, her heart ached
As only a mother’s can
His dad said ‘Be proud,
He’ll come back a man.
Brave though he was,
And courageous and strong
She soon got the call
That proved her right all along
Alas, no-one listened
For she couldn’t speak
And she now mops the tears
That fall to her cheek.
I saw a cat with bright green eyes
Down at the Rescue today
He looked at me and said ‘Take me home’
Would I just – if I had my own way!
I saw a lovely Tabby Mum
With her two sons – Fluffy and Felix
They tore at my heart, but I already have four!
And with them – they would just never mix
I saw other cats trotting here and there-
Going about their daily routine
The feeling down there is beyond compare-
It’s the best place I’ve ever been!
I’ve been to Paris and London too
And I’ve drank Champagne on a boat
But a visit to the Cat Rescue –
Always brings a lump to my throat.
There’s something down there- SO tranquil and still
Simply something that money can’t buy
I could bring them ALL home, but my Husband said NO!
Ah Well! – It was still worth a try!
Some cats are majestic, others are bold
And some they just know how to charm.
All cats are wise and give out so much love
Just one stroke brings so much inner calm
If you feel you could sponsor a lonely cat
That’s been abandoned, or simply is lost!
It’s the most worthwhile thing that you ever could do
-No matter how little the cost.
These creatures are mystical – We need them around
To make sense of this crazy old planet
It can’t hurt to love them and give them a home
Well really – I ask you – Can it?

I’m guilty by association
I knew his mother’s brother
We once had a romp in the bluebell wood
And then went back for another
