The swine
The cad
The ‘Jack the lad’
I’ll have his guts for garters
I’d like to lock him in the stocks
And at him – whiz tomarta’s
His roving eye
His velvet tongue
His bald head doesn’t stop him
He thinks he’s ‘it’
But he’s in for shit
And that’s only for ‘starters

Far into the future,
Caught quite unaware,
One day at his face,
She will suddenly stare.
Perhaps at the opera,
Or even the races.
Galloping hearts,
And red blushing faces.
Feelings still there,
Suppressed through the years.
Scary thoughts indeed
And with them – come tears.

Sometimes thoughts are too personal to mention
Sometimes memories are too heartbreaking to recall
Sometimes my world without you seems so futile
Sometimes I don’t want to live at all
Sometimes I get so melancholy
Sometimes I feel emotional and want to scream
Sometimes I realise that life is intolerable
Sometimes I see you, but know it’s a dream
Sometimes my mind goes around in circles
Sometimes I think I am going insane
Sometimes I thank the Lord that I met you
Sometimes we meet in loves sleepy lane
Sometimes words that you said come to haunt me
Sometimes I want to tell you about my day
Sometimes tears gently fall in abundance
Sometimes the game, I do give away
When you awoke this morning
You were filled with love and desire
You turned to me and I could see
Your bright eyes were on fire
When I awoke this morning
I knew I had to iron your shirt
And put the wheelie bin out
So the bed I did desert.

Love is addictive
A lifetime disease
It can break hearts in two
With relative ease
Love is obsessive
A feeling quite rare
Love is a killer
So one must beware
Love rots the mind
It’s a real life condition
It imprisons ones thoughts
Without any remission
Love is so hurtful
A pain to endure
Love is simplistic
And yet also so pure.

Oriental gentleness
A touch beyond compare.
A trip back into fantasy
To a place no longer there
Naked, daring
A tour of delight.
A secret visit,
To a splendid site
A cultural passage,
With satin walls.
Where velvet carpets line
Magnificent halls.
Ostrich feathers,
Old fashioned lace
That silky feeling
Around your face.
She whispers ‘Come to me,
I’ll make you whole.
My uplifted body
Will soothe your soul’

Would you like to come along with me
And visit buildings old, and temples many?
You could soak up all their history
Remark on their survival
Admire their restoration
Marvel at their beauty
And educate your mind?
Or perhaps you’d find it more a duty.
Would it bore you to the roots
Would you find it all drag
Just simply not your bag?
REPLY
Oh, I will surely walk with you.
I’ll enjoy your pleasant company
But I will see it all through different eyes
I will spot the living things
The wandering tramps
The homeless cats
The pampered pooches
And birds that fly with freedom through the sky
I’ll ‘people’ watch
I’ll window shop
I’ll soak up my surroundings like a sponge
I won’t remember where we’ve been
Or names of places we have seen
But in my mind I will return a thousand times.

It must have been the
scented aroma of
seasonal clementines
that aroused her senses
and made her recall the
first time she lay with
him, in a house with
far too many bodies and far
too few beds – all quite
innocent – until daybreak
dawned when their future
was sealed and how they
squealed!

Oh desire that burns my soul
Then leaves me as I shed a tear
A second’s glance into the past
Making those times seem so near
Playing tricks with my emotions
Lest I should try to forget
The greatest love that ever came my way
Alas, short lived, but without regret
A pointer, a pinnacle, nothing ever came close
To equal that time long ago
When hearts were racing and passion was high
And eyes had that certain glow
Alive, alert, consumed with urge
Not even looking to feel that way
When life was crazy, exciting and hot
And still so vivid, even today.

She suddenly saw him across the room.
The man with whom she’d once had a steamy affair.
She remembered how he’d tied her to the bed,
As she abandoned every care.
Now wasn’t the moment to approach him,
They were both in another space and time
But their eyes locked in total memory,
Recalling what was then quite sublime.
Her whole body seemed to tingle,
And her head, it felt quite light.
A bright flush of redness came to her cheeks,
As she thought of that wonderful night.
A few minutes later he walked to the door.
It was impossible for either to speak.
He turned back to look at her one last time,
And suddenly her knees went quite weak.
Thank goodness that moment was over.
Thank goodness that the sun once shone.
It is all part of life’s rich tapestry.
But she couldn’t help wonder where he’d gone!
