What a loaded bite
that made them grapple,
was Eve’s first taste
of that damned apple.
The heavens opened and in seconds
puddles flooded the streets.
My heart opened and in seconds
tears flooded my cheeks.
We bond and break with monotony.
We search to find in others, qualities we lack.
We test and cajole so mischievously.
But once we leave, there’s no turning back.

Courtship with all its frilly bits,
like wining and dining in style.
Reality with all its chilly bits,
ironically, you just have to smile.
A world of peril in a Triumph Herald,
before seat belts were ever invented.
A rendezvous for a stolen kiss,
if, on the first date she consented.

Plausible – well hardly.
Believable – a bit.
Check him out in every detail,
or you’ll end up more Miss than It.

He has one on the go,
and another on the side,
and a third he sees monthly,
just to keep in his stride.
He has one in Australia,
for an internet ride,
and one he met in Chile,
who subsequently died.
He has one in Magaluf,
who he now can’t abide,
and one he sees twice yearly,
when he sails in with the tide.

Let’s stop this dilly-dallying,
and beating about the bush.
Let’s cut to the chase and do it,
whilst we feel the urgency and the rush.
I will blow kisses across the ocean.
Catch them if you can.
Open wide your eyes and see I love you,
and have, since time began.

What have you been up to
my dearest little cherub?
I sense your feeling of elation
I see the sparkle in your eyes.
I know you well enough, to know
I’m due a few white lies.
