Patience paved the way but
prompt action saved the day
The vulnerability in the balance
can be the price we pay.

There’s birth and there’s death,
and in the middle is
uncertainty.
With the question of why, never answered
Endless conclusions all seem too real
As fact and fiction merge into each other
The Press, out of it, make a meal.
Signals missed
Knowledge withheld.
A lethal combination.
Then with tears, eyes welled.

Bags in sumptuous leather
Boots and shoes with a name.
All of them costing a fortune
Isn’t it a shame!
Clothes with famous labels
Out of date so soon,
Get put on the credit cards,
and for a moment we’re over the moon.
We all need retail therapy,
to prevent us going insane.
This fast track modern living
can sometimes be a pain.

I have a drawer full
of nothing at all.
I never go near it
from one year to the next.
When I do eventually open it,
I feel quite vexed,
and slam it shut
for a few years more.
What useless junk
it has in store!

The over optimistic cool dude
The spinner of yarn onto a
mythical spool
The childlike fantasist
and you, the innocent believer
and fool!

She disliked everything about her
weekly piano lessons, and especially,
the presence of her music teachers
husband, who always seemed to hover
uncomfortably in the background!
He was later arrested for something or other.
At which point, her lessons promptly ceased,
and she thanked God for divine intervention.

Human fields of endeavour
Stretching for many a mile
Inbuilt self-destruction
In a second it can all turn vile

Breathe the air of self importance,
Swallow your own success,
Fall in love with your mirror image,
But don’t stick around for the mess
