Oh passionate soul
with urgent needs
and hunger the catalyst
that on survival feeds.
Seek ye not the path
where nettles lay
in the dense undergrowth
of yesterday.
Oh fantasy,
that is blind love
for now
and nothing more than
passion anyhow.
A broken promise
and forgotten vow.
For sake of sanity
exit with a bow.
The monster hat of lunacy
The prickled skullcap of pain
The mortar board of success
The bejewel’d crown of reign
Upon this earth we dwell
as best we can
In harmony and trust
with fellow man
Until the time when
in our coffin lay
A job well done
until the close of day.
Oh God, I sat there
mesmerised as he
analysed each word.
His trained voice bringing
a whole new meaning
to ones I’d thought absurd.
Today is yours and
all things are possible
Tomorrow is but a day
that might never be
Live in the present,
wasting not a single
moment
The future is for fools
too numb to see.
They will go and you
know they should
Evolution being healthy
for the blood.
They will return
if given wings to fly
All journeys then a
a temporary goodbye.
Fear blueberries
at your peril
Denounce grapes
and go to hell
Resist the rash
from a strawberry
and in a fruitless
kingdom dwell.
Panic not son;
The water is not so deep
that you will drown
A mere trickle will land
on your forehead during
the performing of the
ritual and then you will
become one of us and
saved from the devil and
the Loch Ness monster.
Taking a moment out
from his daily grind,
a long hot summer
returned to mind.
Only fleetingly was there
a chance to look, at that
amazing page from his
memory book.
