Channel your anger
by walking away.
Avoid a stroke and
live to see the next day.
With sloppiness in evidence, they
looked like they hadn’t turned up.
Imagine losing to a non league side
in the first round of the cup!
The first half started promisingly,
with new signings seeming to gel.
But then two penalties against them,
meant the game turned into hell.
There was an element of laziness
that trickled through his game, or,
perhaps his confidence was shaken,
as after his injury, he was never the same.
We need a strong team leader,
a fighter with a positive vibe,
who’ll turn around our fortunes,
and this family club revive.
His falling was appalling,
but by the ref, left overlooked.
He deserved his marching orders, or
certainly should have been booked.
It was superfluous to their needs,
a carbuncle coming to a head.
They needed to lance the boil
in order to forward tread.

True, he set the bench mark,
but he was also up for a lark.
So he nipped her off to Greenwich,
for lunch near the Cutty Sark.
Knowing the answer was the easy bit.
Putting it right meant a new dimension.
So with cards on the table they both agreed,
That to separate was never their intension.
Exhausted on every level
They lay entwined in deepest slumber
And slept til dawn appeared
My God, were they in lumber!
