She dared to have some ‘me’ time
A bit of ‘fun and glee’ time
A ‘frolic around the tree’ time,
but was sure to be home by tea-time.
In moments of preferred solitude
she sat amongst the hibiscus
reflecting on her life and
wondering if the choices she’d
made were for the best, and if
the time was now right to tell him,
and get it off her chest.
Soldier on the frontline, my thoughts
are with you night and day.
Soldier on the frontline,
for your safety I do pray.
Soldier on the frontline, sleeping
underneath a troubled moon.
Soldier on the frontline, you are
my world, please come home soon.
The like mindedness of fools who
share humour to set themselves free.
The broken heartedness of lovers
who separation can never foresee.
Angels are present everywhere
offering a helping hand, to those
in need who are willing to invite
them onto their waveband.
Whether it’s short lived or
it lasts a lifetime, to have found
true love just the once is the
most wonderful feeling on earth.
He’s got out alive, some
never thought he would.
He’s turned his back and
waved a final farewell.
His place in history
forever secured.
Will his successor succeed?
Who can tell!
If only instincts were acted upon.
If only courage could replace fear.
The first step is worth a million more,
and really, what’s left for you here?
If only hardships were delete able.
If only strength could be gained from a tear.
The first kiss is worth a million more
So leave now whilst the path is clear.
What fool, whilst on a whim,
would leave for pastures new, in order,
a better lifestyle to pursue?
What fool, without a care,
would seek out greener grass, only to
end up in some concrete underpass?
What fool, who saw the folly of his ways
would disappear and put himself to graze?
What fool, who stark reality could not face
would regret forever, fleeing his home base?
